JOB TITLE: Crisis Line Coordinator
HOURS/SALARY/BENEFITS: 20 hours a week. Hybrid work schedule / current in office requirement 1 day for part time employees, or a total of 8 hours.
$23 an hour. Generous accrual of sick and vacation time.
REPORTS TO: Intervention Manager
OVERVIEW: Under the direct supervision of Verity’s Crisis Intervention Manager (CIM), the Crisis Line Coordinator effectively coordinates and implements crisis intervention services to maintain overall agency effectiveness in this area. This position will support the CIM to continuously innovate and improve the program to ensure effective, culturally competent, and compassionate services through our crisis line.
MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
Volunteer Coordination:
• Assist the CIM to identify, recruit, and interview a diverse group of volunteer advocates and crisis line counselors
• Assist CIM in developing and implementing quarterly 48-hour volunteer trainings in accordance with state requirements
• Assist CIM in providing ongoing support to Crisis Line Counselor volunteers
• Ensure Crisis Line Counselors volunteers are providing services in accordance with Verity’s mission, service standards and grant objectives
• Record volunteer hours to ensure they are meeting the minimum level of participation
• Update and maintain current, old, and new volunteer contact information
• Provide follow-up telephone calls and advocacy support to Verity clients and crisis line counselors as needed
• Conduct interviews for potential crisis line counselors.
• Develop new ways to motivate volunteers and increase retention.
• Update volunteer contact information.
• Help coordinate monthly mentorship meeting
Crisis Line Administrative Duties
• Assist the CIM to collect, maintain, and input accurate confidential client information into agency’s database system after all after-hours and weekend crisis line calls
• Create and maintain monthly crisis line calendar with primary and secondary staffing with the 1st draft completed one week prior to each month’s start
• Ensure accurate updates and coverage of crisis line calendar at all times
• Communicate with crisis line’s answering service to update changes
• Maintain and update community referral list on a quarterly basis.
• Assist the XS Sexual Assault Advocate to create accompaniment packets and distribute to SART and RCC, as needed.
• Attend Verity Staff and Advocate Meetings
• Additional duties and responsibilities as required by CIM and Executive Director
MAJOR QUALIFICATIONS: The Crisis Line Counselor Coordinator must be a self-starter who can work in a team environment and handle a variety of tasks with urgent deadlines.
Qualifications required:
• State Certified Sexual Assault Advocate or willingness to become certified (Verity provides training.)
• Bilingualism (English/Spanish) highly desirable
• Ability to maintain a high level of client confidentiality.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Employment is contingent upon completion of background check and DOJ fingerprint check.
